Dead Dolphins on the French Coast: Sea Shepherd France Begins Patrols

February 20, 2019 Uncategorized 0

Every year thousands of dolphins are found dead off the Atlantic coast of France. Several hundred bodies have already been found on the beaches this year (and probably thousands more at sea). Despite scientific evidence showing these deaths are due to industrial fishing boats, this fact is disputed by the fishing industry, which claims the deaths are natural. Because France does not require observers on these fishing boats, the killing has gone undocumented for over 30 years.

Sea Shepherd has launched Operation DolphinByCatch to patrol the areas where dolphins are killed by fishermen. Sea Shepherd is going to address the lack of observers by becoming observers ourselves, to show the world what is really happening to these dolphins.

This video is from one of the very first patrols conducted by Sea Shepherd France for the campaign, on February 11th, 2019.
